COURSES

I offer the following courses:

	Basic Offroad Driving (rates)
	Basic Recovery (rates)
	Full Recovery (rates)

I can also train you for specific conditions if you only require knowledge in one area, e.g. dune driving for a trip to Namibia, or a safari in Botswana, etc.

I can supply recovery gear that is ISO and SABS Rated at very reasonable prices. See 4x4 Sales for more information.

Because of the diversity and complexity of the various 4x4's on the market, I must emphasise that it is vital to train you in your own 4x4.

Certificates will be issued upon completion of the courses.

Remember: Your insurance company could offer you a discount upon presentation of the certificates!

Basic Offroad Driving

Duration: approx 4 to 6 hours

Theory and Technical overview of:

	specific vehicle being driven
	Drive trains
	Tyres
	Suspensions
	Accessories

Practical demonstrations of:

	Appropriate tyre pressures for specific terrains
	Correct gearing and momentum
	Line to take through obstacles
	Eco-friendly practices
	Fuel-saving techniques
	... and more

Offroad driving techniques are explained, demonstrated and then driven by you until you're confident about the techniques used for:

	Inclines / declines
	Cambers
	Cross-axles
	Failed hill-climbs
	... and more

Terrain covered includes:

	tar
	gravel
	sand
	water
	mud
	rocks

I structure my training according to your requests, and my training is totally personalized and done in your own 4x4. This ensures you can learn to recognize your own vehicle's characteristics and limitations.

Safety and eco-protection are emphasized at all times.

One driver using one vehicle R1000

Cost per passenger R200 (over the age of 18 years )

More than one driver negotiable according to size of group

Basic Recovery

Duration: approx 2-3 hours

This is offered as an add-on to the Basic Offroad Driving course

I offer theory and demonstrations of:

	correct jacking procedures in sand, gravel and other terrain
	safe use of static and kinetic ropes / straps
	correct use of shackles / recovery points on vehicles
	safety procedures when doing recovery

Rates: Basic Recovery

As an add on to the Basic Offroad Driving course Add R200 per driver

No extra charge for passengers for the add-on Basic Recovery course.

Full Recovery

Duration: approx 6 to 8 hours

Theory and demonstration of:

	correct jacking procedures in sand, gravel and other terrain
	safe use of static and kinetic ropes / straps
	correct use of 'B & D' shackles / chains / clevis hooks
	correct recovery points on vehicles
	safety procedures when doing recovery
	hi-lift jack (as a jack and as a winch)
	air / exhaust bags
	electric winch / capstan / hydraulic
	tyre repairs
	use of sand ladders and traction mats
	tips and demonstrations of unusual (but safe and eco-friendly!) driving techniques for sticky or hostile terrain

All recovery equipment can be supplied and demonstrated. Any questions regarding your vehicle and recovery equipment can be explained or demonstrated.

Rates: Full Recovery

More than one driver negotiable according to size of group
