4x4Cape Club join us on our track

On 30 January 2021 the 4x4Cape Club joined us on our track for their maiden trip of 2021. This was however not their first visit to Zevenwacht Wine Estate; 5 July 2020 being their first one.

And how contrasting were the two days. Last year, with the good rains we’ve had, was a slip & slide affair with some big-eye-white-knuckle moments! “SuiSlide” hill claimed its first victim, but after a nifty yet safe recovery, the convoy was on the move again. Aptly the bottom of this hill is now named “Colin’s Corner”. No names, no pack drills………

A Scenic Drive through the Vineyards

A total of twelve vehicles lined up as the scenic drive through the vineyards of the 450 hectare estate started. The trail is hailed for the magnificent views it offers; from Kaap Hangklip to Cape Point, all the way around to Table Bay and Paarl Rock.

The day was a lot drier and dustier than before, but the fun and excitement was just as good. “Colin” was there again, but at least not giving the rest of the guys some hard work! We also had a new addition to the nickname family. This time round “Stompie” stole the limelight as the Jimny got hung up on the ONLY log on the side of the trail?

Teamwork and light bantering got the little beast going again.

Some big lifts

As usual there were some biiiiig wheel-lifts; this time through “Chocolate Alley”. “Disco Alley” was quite subdued in the dry weather though. What was so encouraging to see was the way that this club is organised and controlled. They each helped where needed and made sure that safe and responsible off-roading was applied throughout. This really made our job so much more enjoyable. A real sense of family and camaraderie was noticeable, and that is what make us do what we do.

Thank you to the team from 4x4Cape Club, and we wish you all happy off-roading!
